As well as for treating drinking water, chlorine can be used to disinfect water for cleaning teeth and for washing fruit and vegetables. And is safe to use for over a month, although is generaly regarded to not treat as many water bourne organisms, however is still an extremely good purifier.
Use neutralising tablets to remove the chlorine taste.
